NEW GUIDE
15 ChatGPT Prompts for Photographers
Do you find ChatGPT a bit “meh,” or are you using it every day without fail? I'm not an AI “prompt engineer,” but I've been using and researching ChatGPT every day for the last eight months, and I've found that with the proper prompts, it can be an absolute game-changer for sparking creativity and saving time. With that in mind, I’ve compiled this mini guide of 15 creative prompts, especially for photographers.
This guide covers everything from marketing ideas, camera settings, photo shoot prep, and more. Whether you shoot commercials, photojournalism, or somewhere in between – they can be altered to fit your situation. I've also included ChatGPT's responses, which can serve as a springboard for your own more specific creative inquiries.
I'm making this guide entirely free to download for all Feature Shoot newsletter subscribers. If you like it, there is an opportunity to preorder the more extensive guide due out later this month. And if you're a premium subscriber to this newsletter, you'll get the complete guide of 101 creative prompts sent your way (for free!).

Tips on Landing Lucrative Influencer Marketing Jobs from the Pros
“Apart from having your own personal style, try to be in front of the camera as well. If you’re always behind the camera, you might have fantastic pictures, but it is going to be very difficult to understand who you are. You want to be recognizable, and you want people to associate your message with your face. One way to do this would be to start recording video tutorials or BTS showing your process.”

’Dark Waters’
“In this area, nature has free reign. Flow and wind create new dunes, which are shaped or broken by tides or visitors. Powerful in vulnerability, these dunes are in an outer dune area where the tides directly influence the flora and fauna. Salty water creates saline soil, which regularly floods the land. It mixes with groundwater, putting bacteria and other organisms to the test. The result of these processes is black soil created by anaerobic bacteria, which is moved by tidal water, coloring the water black.
“The black water creates an out-of-this-world landscape, which from different distances creates compositions where scale is not visible. Here and there, a paw print, shoreline grass, or shell betrays the size. These traces make the scenes I encounter vulnerable, layered artworks.” —Hans Foks, photographer

Q&A
What is a common portfolio mistake photographers make?
"You might shoot a bit of everything—weddings, commercial work, fine art—but including a bunch of different genres on your website (or social feeds) can be confusing to potential clients. Instead, focus on your target client and curate your portfolio with that client in mind.
“A mistake I see often is a photographer trying to be all things to all buyers. Develop a niche and hone in on your aesthetic, unique vision, and POV. These things will make you stand out and be remembered."

The Adventures of a Storm Chaser
“There have been a few situations with lightning and tornadoes that were close enough that my ears popped from the change in air pressure. On my first storm-chasing trip, a hailstone the size of a quarter hit my forehead and sent a shock through my skull. Looking back now, he says that hailstone was relatively small, as strong supercells can result in hail the size of tennis balls.” —Rob Darby, photographer
