Photographers, I hope this finds you enjoying the summer!
With everyone on vacation, I thought it might be a slow time for contests, but boy was I mistaken, as there are heaps of contests, grants, and opportunities closing this month!
And it’s a good time to apply (while your competition is lazing on a beach somewhere).
Here are my picks for the month:
Hosted by PhotoLucida, Critical Mass is an annual online program connecting photographers with over 150 international photography professionals. Open to photographers at all levels worldwide, the program offers unmatched exposure and the opportunity to receive exhibition and publication opportunities through its TOP 50 selection.

Tender Visions is a cross-disciplinary commissioning program for photographers and writers based on the African continent. Supported by the Open Society Foundation and hosted by Tender Photos, the initiative invites applicants to create new community-rooted visual and written work exploring predefined themes.
Prize
Eight selected photographers receive £1,000 commissions to produce a new body of work (40–50 images)
Sixteen writers commissioned to produce 3,000–4,000 word creative or critical texts, receiving £750
Travel stipends available on request (writers)

Eligibility: Open to photographers and writers based on the African continent; diaspora writers also welcome
The Henri Cartier-Bresson Creation Award supports an established photographer in completing an ambitious, documentary-inspired project. The award includes financial support, a solo exhibition at the Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson, and an accompanying publication.
