šøāļø This is how you are being judged
in photography contests and grants.
Ever wonder how you are being judged when you submit to a photo contest, grant, or other opportunity? I think most photographers instinctively know when their project is ready and donāt necessarily break it down much further.
When putting together our calls for submissions this month, I came across the Photo Museum of Irelandās International Open Awards, and their judging criteria gave me pause. Here it is below:
Relevance to Theme (30%): Effectiveness in exploring authenticity, truth, or the human condition.
Creativity and Originality (25%): Innovation and distinctiveness of the concept.
Technical Skill and Execution (20%): Mastery of the medium (composition, lighting, etc.).
Impact and Storytelling (15%): Emotional connection, storytelling, and narrative depth.
Cohesion and Consistency (10%): Consistency in style and visual language (if submitting a series).
